"The soul who is in love with God is a gentle, humble and patient soul." ~ St John of the Cross
My mother was born Zdena Marie Hajek in Prague, Czech Republic. When she was 16, with her parents and sister, she immigrated to Canada in 1966. Shortly afterwards, my mother worked as a Nurse's Aid at the local Hospital. From all the stories I have heard this weekend - she was an outstanding Nurse's Assistant and was the most charitable and loving to everyone who sought her aid. On August 15th, 1985, at the age of 35, Zdena (now commonly known as Diane) married Daniel Joseph Braun and her home became Washington State - USA. 5 years later they adopted my sister, Maria, and I from Oltenita, Romania.
My mother has always ensured that we had excellent strict discipline - the greatest gift she could have ever given us is FAITH. My vision of Motherhood and being a Wife has been established and grounded in the example of my mother. My mother was nicknamed early on "the Church Mouse." Let's just say my mother "thrust her anchor of trust deep into the Sacred Heart of Jesus (Fr Cyprian)" and the rest of her life flowed from there. Mom's deep FAITH, although tested at times, was never shaken. Her example was Jesus Christ and His most Blessed Mother.
My sister and I did an excellent job testing mother's patience and faith. But through it all we all survived and are better people for it. I thank God for my mother. I pray she be granted Eternal Rest. <3
